Enter the IP address of the PC in the
Use the following IP address
section. Enter an IP address which is the same
as that of the Merlin LT except for the last three digits, which need to be a different number between 1 and 254.
This must exclude the numbers currently in use for the Merlin LT unit and any other equipment on that subnet.
For example, using a Merlin LT with a default IP address of 192.168.0.201, enter an IP address of 192.168.0.100
for your PC, as in Figure 26.
Enter a Subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.
Note: It is important that both the IP address and subnet mask are entered correctly. Any deviation from this will
result in the PC and Merlin LT not communicating with each other.
7.2 Pinging the Merlin LT laser
In order to check the initial communication with Merlin LT, ‘ping’ the Merlin LT laser by opening a Windows command
prompt window: see Figure 27. To do this, type
CMD
into the Windows search bar and select
Command Prompt
.
The Command Prompt window will appear. Using the IP address of the Merlin LT laser, type:
ping 192.168.0.201
Then press
ENTER
.
If the Merlin LT is correctly connected, a reply from the Merlin LT laser is received.
