imagePRESS Firmware Upgrades Using the Service Support Tool
The SST
(Service Support Tool) (version 4.72 or later) is available via
Canon USA’s
system components:
a) Upgrade Functions:
•
System Software stored on the HDD
•
Main engine firmware
•
Accessory firmware (Refer to the SST User Manual for a list of
supported devices and accessories.)
•
MEAP Contents
•
Language
•
HDD Format
•
RUI (Remote User Interface) stored on the HDD
•
BootROM stored on a FDIMM (Flash Double Inline Memory
Module) on the Main Controller PCB (Printed Circuit Board)
The imagePRESS C7011VP Series devices support firmware
downloads from the SST and a USB memory stick. When the hard
disk drive is replaced, the SST is used to format the new HDD and
load software.
The SST Download Progress Monitor
is available via the Canon
. The tool must be used whenever
an imagePRESS firmware update is performed, as it will enable the
service technician to monitor the download progress of firmware to
the imagePRESS C7011VPS Series. Refer to the Service Manual for
complete upgrading procedures.
b) Backup / Restore RAM Data
If replacing and PCBs with FDIMMs attached or initializing RAM, the
Service Support Tool can be used to create a backup file of the RAM
data on the FDIMMs and saved to a PC. Once the PCB has been
replaced, the RAM backup file can be restored to the imagePRESS
device and factory settings restored.
