Visually check the paper
feed unit

Check for paper jams, gear deformation/damage/missing teeth.
Is the paper selector lever's position correct?
Check the pick-up roller's rubber
rings and the separation sheet for
cleanliness, wear, or degradation.
Check the rod cam for engagement.
Check the gears for deformation,
damage, and phase.
Switch on with the
cover open
Paper feed check
Check that the pick-up roller rotates and the ASF feeds paper
normally.
Check the ASF unit
Replace the control board
Check the operation of
paper feed unit
Check the paper feed motor, pick-up roller, paper feed roller,
eject roller for movement during initialization. Check for noise.
Check the paper feed motor for out-of-step.
