STEP 4. SETTING SMART CLEAN
(OPTIONAL)
Smart Clean can be selected if you want to automatically have the system perform a short backwash and rinse cycle after seven (7) days of non-use.
This helps prevent bacteria growth from stagnant water. This mode is also recommended for filters as certain types of filter media can ‘cement’ or
harden during long periods of non-use. The factory setting for Smart Clean is off. If you are concerned about the extra water usage then leave Smart
Clean OFF. With Smart Clean ON, the system will perform a ten (10) minute backwash every seven (7) days at the factory setting. This will use
approximately fifteen (15) to fifty (50) gallons of extra water, depending on size of model.
STEP 5. ADD SALT TO BRINE CABINET
Put 80 to 100 lbs [40 kg] of water softener salt into the brine tank. The unit will automatically fill the water to the correct level when it regenerates.
