OPTIONAL TECHNIQUES
COMPRESSION & DISTRACTION
The user may choose to compress and distract upon the pedicle screws during or near the end
of the surgery, depending on the technique deployed. Do not remove the extension tabs from
the screw heads if compression or distraction is needed; only remove the connection tabs. To
compress or distract, the following instruments will work together to effectively manipulate the
construct:
(2) Compression / Distraction Towers (CM-128-01)
(1) Adjustable Fulcrum (CM-128-02)
(1) Compression / Distraction Actuator (CM-128-03)
Push the Compression/Distraction Towers into each screw head, ensuring they engage the rod.
When fully seated, the etched line on the Compression/Distraction Tower will align with the top of
the standard size screw head. Do not compress or distract on the screw heads. Only compress
or distract on the Compression/Distraction Towers. The Adjustable Fulcrum head may be rotated
to optimize fit between screw heads. The horizontal position is for larger offsets and the vertical
position is for smaller offsets.
