32 BRIO 36

Audio Production System with Optional Networking

Connection Information

SYNCHRONISATION

The Brio 36 has 6 BNC connections
for external synchronisation:-
2 x Wordclock inputs, 2 x AES inputs
and 2 x Video inputs. If no external
sync is connected and selected,
the console will free-run on its own
internal clock generated by the active
router card.

Generalrulesofgoodpractiserequire
thatallequipmentconnectedtotheaudio
console’sdigitalinputsandoutputsare
lockedtothesamereferencedsync
sourceastheconsoletoensureclean
audio.

InsystemswithmultipleCalrecprocessing
coresconnectedtogether,itisof
paramountimportancethatallconnected
processingcoresarelockedtothesame
referencedsyncsource.

Ifoneormorecoresreceivesasyncsignal
thatisnotlockedfromthesameclock
referenceasothercores,interruptionsto
bothaudioanddatacarriedbyrouterscan
becaused.Thiscanleadtofalseerror
warningsandI/Oboxesgoingoffline.
Therefore,itisessentialtoconsidera
robustsyncdistributiondesignfora
facilityandtoensureallpointsinthechain
arecorrectlyconfiguredtolocktothe
appropriateinputandnoelements,such
assyncregenerators,arefree-runningor
makingchangestothereferencesource.

Itisalsorecommendedthatbackupsync
sourcesandpathsareconsideredto
maintainfullfunctionalityintheeventof
thelossofanypartofthefacility’ssync
distributionsystem.

Externalsyncsourcescanbefedto
theBNCconnectorsontherearofthe
consoleasshownaboveright.Twoinputs
areavailableforvideoformats,aswellas
twoinputsforTTLWordclockandtwo
inputsforAES3digitalaudioreference.

SYNC INPUTS

EXTERNAL SOURCES TABLE

Theconsolewillalwaysattempttoboot
tothehighestprioritysyncselected,and
movedowntheprioritylistuntilitfindsa
validsync.

Ifavalidsynclaterfails,itwillmovedown
thelist.Ifnovalidsyncpresent,willalways
defaulttointernalasthisisfixedasthe
lastsourceinthelist.Theprioritywill
neverautomaticallymovebackupthelist
evenifahigherprioritysyncbecomes
available.Presstheresettofirstbuttonto
movebackuptothetopofthelist.

Itisimportantthattherequiredsync
sourceisavailablebeforetheconsole
bootsupotherwiseitwon’tbelocked
tothecorrectsync,ifthisoccurspress
the‘Resettofirst’buttonafterthesync
generatorisrunning.
