EXPANSION OPTIONS

Brio36has3xexpansionI/Oslots
accessiblefromtherearofthesurface.
Eachofthethreeslotscanbefittedwith
anycardfromCalrec’sModularI/Orange,
“single”,or“double-wide”cards.Refer
totheHydra2Installationmanualfora
completelistofthecardtypesavailable.
Therearconnectionimageshownonthe
previouspageshowsaJM6199MADI
cardpluggedintoslotE.
Tofitthesecards,removeblankingplates
fromthedesiredslots,andalignthecard
inslotrunners,withthe“top”ofthecard
totheleft.Slidecardintoplace,firmly
seatingitagainstthebackplaneconnector
andfixitinplaceusingthecaptivescrews
onthecard.ItisimportanttoobserveESD
precautionswhenhandlingexpansion
cards-useantistaticbagstostoreand
placecardsdownonwhennotfittedin
thesurface,handlebytheiredgesand
useananti-staticwriststrapwhenfitting.
Onbootingthesystem,anyexpansion
cardsfittedareautomaticallydetected
andmadeavailabletotheuser.Expansion
cardsappearintheUIasslotsC,D&E,
alongsidethefixedinternalI/OonslotsA
&B.Anyemptyspacesthatremaincan
befilledwithblankingplatesasrequired.
Ifacardisremoved,orchangedforone
ofadifferenttype,theoriginalwillremain
visibleinpatchingscreensbutdisplayed
asoffline.Tostopacardthatisnolonger
presentfromappearingintheUI,the
consolesI/Oshouldberemoved,andthen
re-addedtotheRequiredI/Olistfound
underSystemSettings
OptionalHydra2Module
Brio36hasanexpansionoptiontoadd
aHydra2moduleinsidetheunitwhich,
whenfittedallowstheusertoconnectto
avarietyofI/Oboxesdirectlyseeabove
rightorviaaHydra2hubseebelowright
oraroutercoreaspartofaconnection
toanetwork,see
“ConnectingBrio36
toaroutercore”onpage17. Note
itscannotconnecttoexpansionrouter
cards,andcannotconnecttootherBrio’s
directly,orjustviaaH2hub.
IftheBrio36isconnecteddirectlyto
I/Othenthefollowingpagesshowits
connectioninformationandsetupfor
theHydraI/OBoxes.Thisrequiresthe
PrimaryandSecondarySFPportsto
beconnectedfromtheBrio36tothe
PrimaryandSecondaryportsofthe
Hydra2I/Obox.H2Hubscanbeused
toincreasethenumberofexternalI/O
connections.SFPsfittedintheBrio
consoleshouldbecompatiblewiththose
theyareconnectingtointheI/Obox,
H2HuborRouter.
