Using VLANs, Spanning Tree, and Hunt Groups
3-6 Cajun P220G Switch Configuratiion and Operation Guide
1 ' #,
Because 3Com LinkSwitch products support only 16 VLANs per switch, some network
managers implement different sets of VLANs in different areas of the network. The
P220G switch enables you to map 3Com VLAN IDs to P220G switch VLANs, allowing
3Com VLAN “1” in one part of the network to be mapped to P220G switch VLAN “1”,
while a separate 3Com VLAN “1” is mapped to P220G switch VLAN 50 in another part of
the network.
This feature also enables you to map 1 of the 16 3Com VLANs to a VLAN ID higher than
16, if desired. To create a VLAN mapping table, complete the following steps:
1. Select 3Com Mapping Table from the menu on the left side of the Web Agent.
The 3Com Mapping Table displays (Figure 3-5):

2. Click CREATE. The Create 3Com Mapping Table screen displays (Figure 3-6).

4. Click APPLY. The entry is added to the 3Com Mapping Table list.
