If the node contains two LAN cards, there can be no
RLP 6 or 7. This should not be a problem, however,
since when there are two LAN cards, the node sup-
ports a maximum of six RLPS, and these can be num-
bered 0–5.
If an RLP is not installed, its allotted shared memory addresses will
be used by the RLP with the next higher RLP number, and each suc-
cessive RLP will use the shared memory addresses left available by
the one before it.
The I/O base address always matches the RLP number as shown in
the table; it does not change if an RLP is not installed. (RLPs use four
I/O addresses; e.g.,
4308–430b
).
SMC EtherCard Configuration
1. Make sure the card’s jumpers are configured as shown in
Figure
A-2
.
2. Boot the unit with a DOS (5.0) system disk.
3. At the
A:>
prompt, insert the SMC SuperDisk Version 2.4, then
type
ezstart
and press
[Enter]
.
4. At the License screen, select
Yes
.
5. At the next screen, select
Custom
.
6. At the next screen, select
Setup
.
7. In the Address Mode box, select
Memory Mapped
. This will
display a Memory Address option.
If this is the first or only LAN card installed, select
C800
. If this
is the second LAD card (of any type), select
D800
.
8. Configure the remaining parameters as shown in the following
list. Some values differ depending on whether the card being
configured is the first/only or second LAN card in the node.
