5-7 Adding PCI Add-On Cards

The NovaScale R423-E2 can accommodate four PCI-E 2.0 x8 (Slots 1, 3, 7 and
4), two PCI-E 2.0 x16 (Slots 2 and 6) and one PCI-E 2.0 x4 (Slot 5). All cards must
be low-profile.

Installing an Add-on Card

Begin by removing the shield for the PCI slot you wish to populate.

Fully seat the card into the slot, pushing down with your thumbs evenly on

both sides of the card.

Finish by using a screw to secure the top of the card shield to the chassis.

3.

The PCI slot shields protect the motherboard and its components from EMI
and aid in proper ventilation, so make sure there is always a shield covering

each unused slot.
