Boat Operation
Starting Procedure
Use the following checklist each time you start the
engines. Additional detailed information about these
systems is covered in the engine operator’s manual.

Review Pre-operation Checklist
T
Engine battery selector switches to ON position
T
Electronics battery selector switch(s) to ON posi-
tion
T
Release engine tilt locks and lower engines to
full Tilt Down position
T
Turn on fuel tank selector valves
T
Verify fuel and oil supply
T
Prime engine fuel supply systems
T
Prime engine oil supply systems if the engines
have not been operated in the last 30 days
T
Move control shift levers to NEUTRAL position
T
Attach ignition shutoff switch clip and lanyard
T
Start engines
T
Let engines idle in NEUTRAL for five minutes
before leaving the dock
T
Verify engine systems using gauges and over-
board cooling system indicator

DANGER
Never start or operate the engines when people
are in the water near your boat. Contact with
the boat, engines, or rotating propellers can
cause serious injury or death.
!
CAUTION
Never start or run engines without an adequate
supply of cooling water. The engines will be
damaged immediately.
