General Workplace Dangers
NOTICE
Material damage hazard from overflow of cryogens.
Material damage may result from the overflow of cryogens.

Turn off the unit during magnet servicing.
f
Cover the unit with a protective cover to avoid contact with cold gases.
f
Be sure to use sufficient transfer line and Teflon evacuation hose for nitrogen and
helium refills based on recommendations in the magnet manual.
f
After refilling cryogens some parts of the magnet may be icy. Be sure to remove
the ice to avoid its melting onto the unit.
CAUTION
Accident hazard from contact with hot or cold surfaces on the unit.
Contact with the hot or cold surfaces of the unit may result in serious burns.

Do not touch unit parts of cooled or heated units.
f
Do not use damaged units.
f
After removing any part of the unit, allow it to cool or thaw before coming in con-
tact.
WARNING
Accident hazard from asphyxiation.
A break in a tube or hose may result in the uncontrolled exit of nitrogen into the labo-
ratory.
f
An oxygen warning device must be present in the laboratory if the device is oper-
ated with nitrogen.
f
Proper air ventilation must be planned and implemented in the laboratory.
