TRACTION ENHANCING PRODUCTS
Effects of Having a Studded Track on the Life of the
Snowmobile
The use of traction enhancing products can increase the load and
the stress on certain snowmobile components, as well as the vibra-
tion level. This can cause premature wear on parts such as belts,
brake linings, bearings, chain, chaincase sprocket, and on approved
studded tracks, shorten track life. Always proceed with a visual
inspection of your track before each use. For more information,
refer to
TRACK
in
MAINTENANCE
.
Studs on the track can also cause serious damage to your snow-
mobile if it is not equipped with the tunnel protectors designed for
your particular model. Damage to the electrical wiring or perforation
of the heat exchangers are potential hazards, that could cause the
engine to overheat and be severely damaged.
WARNING
If tunnel protectors are excessively worn or not installed, the
gas tank could be punctured, causing a fire.
NOTICE
Ask your dealer for the appropriate tunnel protectors
model and kit number required for your snowmobile.
NOTE:
Consult the BRP limited warranty to find out what warranty
limitations are related to the use of studs.
Installation of Studs on BRP Approved Tracks
WARNING
Never stud a track that has not been approved for studs. Ap-
proved tracks can be identified by a stud symbol (see illustra-
tion below) molded into the track surface. Installing studs on
an unapproved track could increase the risk of the track tearing
or severing.
