OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Engine Starting Procedure
Procedure
1. Apply parking brake.
2. Recheck throttle lever operation.
3. Put your helmet on.
4. Ensure that the tether cord cap is in-
stalled on the engine cut-off switch
and that the cord is attached to your
clothing eyelet.
5. Ensure that the emergency engine
stop switch is in the ON position
(up).
Manual Start Models
Grab rewind starter handle, pull handle
slowly until a resistance is felt, then
hold handle firmly and pull vigorously
to start engine.
Electric Start Models
6. Depress the START button to en-
gage the electric starter and start
the engine. Release button imme-
diately when engine has started.
WARNING
Never depress throttle while start-
ing engine.
NOTICE
Do not engage electric
starter for more than 10 seconds at a
time. A rest period of at least 30 sec-
onds should be observed between
the cranking cycles to allow electric
starter to cool down.
7. Release parking brake.
NOTE:
For an initial cold start, do not
release parking brake. Perform the
VEHICLE WARM-UP
procedure as ex-
plained below.
Emergency Starting
If the starter does not operate and you
have followed the steps in
ENGINE
STARTING PROCEDURE
, start engine
with the emergency cord as follows:
Starting Using an Emergency
Starter Rope
The engine can be started with the
emergency starter rope supplied with
the tool kit. Proceed as follows:
1. Remove belt guard.
WARNING
Do not wind starting rope around
your hand. Hold rope by the han-
dle only. Do not start the snowmo-
bile by the drive pulley unless it is
a true emergency situation. Have
the snowmobile repaired as soon
as possible.

2. Attach one end of emergency rope
to rewind handle.
NOTE:
The spark plug socket can be
used as an emergency handle.
