GENERAL OPERATION
Sod Thickness: Hydraulic Depth Control – 1570
The 1570 Sod Harvester comes with a hydraulic
depth control as standard equipment. This allows
the operator to adjust the depth of cut while the
machine is in motion by means of a control lever
conveniently mounted on the top of the control
panel.
Another depth control lever is mounted under the
rear beam for the convenience of the person on the
rear platform.
A series of marks on the depth indicator show the
change in depth.

The 1570 Sod Harvester comes with a hydraulic
depth control as standard equipment. This allows
the operator to adjust the depth of cut while the
machine is in motion by means of a control lever
conveniently mounted on the top of the control
panel.
The hydraulic depth control will provide a variation of
1”. Originally a second range was accommodated by
a second row of holes in the cutting head frame.
However, it was found that an overlap of ranges was
desirable. Two extra holes were put in the pivot
bracket and the lower set of holes in the cutting
head frame are no longer used. Refer to the diagram
for the available cutting ranges.
A series of notches on the pivot bracket and a pin on
the pivot arm indicates the change in depth. One
notch will indicate approximately on tenth of an inch,
or a little less than 1/8”.
