If the shift panel is not working and the wiring appears to be sound, check the solenoids
on the transmission control valve. The coils of two of the solenoids should be magnet-
ized whenever a state other than NEUTRAL is selected and the ignition switch is on. The
following chart shows the solenoids that are energized as each gear is selected:
If abnormal contamination is found or a problem cannot be diagnosed and fixed by the above
steps, please call your Broderson dealer or the Broderson Service Department to have a Dana
service representative contact you.
TOWING
If the crane must be towed, run the engine at low idle to release the parking brake and lubri-
cate the transmission. Do not exceed 10 mph (16 km/hr). If the engine cannot be run, release
the parking brake by following the manual parking brake release procedure on page 3-21. Do
not exceed 3 mph (5 km/hr) and one mile (1.6 km) total distance while towing. It is recom-
mended by the axle and transmission manufacturer to remove both drive shafts, prior to tow-
ing. Afterward, reset the park brake by the procedure on page 3-21.
