Installing and Configuring the SilkWorm 3800

Installing the SilkWorm 3800 in an EIA Cabinet

These instructions are for installing the SilkWorm 3800 in an EIA cabinet using the Slide Rack
Mount Kit. The rack kit can be installed in two ways:

To allow the port side of the switch to slide out of the exhaust-air side of the cabinet.
In this installation, the port side of the switch is flush with the edge of the cabinet.

To allow the non-port side of the switch to slide out the cool-air side of the cabinet.
In this installation, the port side of the switch is set three inches back from the edge of the
cabinet, allowing a more gradual bend in the fiber optic cables.

Note:

This procedure is written with the assumption that the non-port side of the switch,
which contains the air intake vents, is installed facing the cool-air aisle.

Items required:

SilkWorm switch and power cords provided with the switch

Slide Rack Mount Kit

Phillips screwdriver, #2, with torque capability

Slotted blade screwdriver, 1/4 inch, with torque capability
