4. Remove the blank bracket panel that covers the PCIe slot in which you
want to install the HBA. If the panel is secured with a screw, remove the
screw and save it for securing the HBA bracket panel back into the slot.
NOTE
Install HBAs in PCI-Express slots using an x8 lane transfer interface or
greater for best performance. You cannot install HBAs into PCI or PCI-X
slots.
ESD precautions
When handling the HBA, use correct electrostatic discharge (ESD)
procedures.
•
Wear a wrist grounding strap connected to chassis ground (if host is
plugged in) or a bench ground.
•
Store the HBA in antistatic packaging.
Installing hardware
Install the HBA hardware into your host system using the following steps.
1. Remove the SFP transceivers from the HBA using the following steps.
NOTE
This step is not required if there is sufficient clearance in your system case
to install the HBA with the SFP transceivers present.
