Troubleshooting
PROBLEM

Auger does not stop
within 5 seconds
after control lever is
released.
Auger control cable out of
adjustment
Adjust auger control cable. Refer to “Cable Adjustment” in the
Maintenance
section of this manual. If the auger does not stop
within 5 seconds, see authorized dealer for repair.
Discharge chute or
de
ß
ector does not work
(remote-manual).
Discharge chute
or deflector needs
lubrication.
See authorized dealer.
Discharge chute or
deflector is frozen .
Put snowthrower in heated garage or let unit run for a few minutes
or clean off any snow and ice from the base of the chute.
Engine does not start.
Key is off or not installed.
Turn key in to the ON position.
Primer not pressed.
Press primer button twice and start.
Frozen engine
Put snowthrower in heated garage to unfreeze engine.
Out of fuel.
Fill fuel tank.
Choke open - cold
engine.
Turn choke to closed, then press primer and start engine.
Engine flooded.
Turn choke to open; crank the engine repeatedly until it starts.
No spark.
Connect spark plug wire or replace spark plug.
Water in fuel, or old fuel.
Drain tank. (Dispose of fuel at an authorized hazardous waste
facility.) Fill with fresh fuel.
Cord not plugged in or
circuit breaker tripped
(Electric Start models).
Plug in cord or replace defective cord; reset circuit breaker.
Engine starts hard or
runs poorly.
Fuel mixture too rich.
Move choke to OPEN position.
Spark plug faulty, fouled,
or gapped incorrectly.
Clean and re-gap spark plug or see authorized dealer.
Fuel cap vent is blocked.
Clear vent.
Excessive vibration.
Loose parts or damaged
auger.
Stop engine immediately. See authorized dealer.
Scraper bar does not
clean hard surface.
Excessive snow left
behind.
See authorized dealer to determine if replacement scraper bar is
necessary.
Scraper bar worn.
See authorized dealer for replacement.
Unit fails to propel itself
Drive belt is loose or
damaged.
See authorized dealer for servicing the rubber auger.
Unit fails to discharge
snow.
Auger drive belt loose or
damaged.
Adjust auger control cable. Refer to “Cable Adjustment” in the
Maintenance
section of this manual.
See authorized dealer for belt replacement.
Discharge chute clogged
with snow.
Stop engine immediately. Always use a clean-out tool to clear a
clogged discharge chute, not your hands. Clean discharge chute
and inside of auger housing. Refer to “Warnings” in
Operator
Safety section
.
Foreign object lodged in
auger.
Stop engine immediately. Always use the clean-out tool to clear a
clogged chute, not your hands. Remove object from auger. Refer
to “
Warnings
” in
Operator Safety
section.
Rubber auger is worn or
damaged.
See authorized dealer for replacement.
