TIP: If you are right-handed, it’s helpful to start with the springs closest to Hole 1
on the Left Mechanism and then start with Hole 9 on the Right Mechanism.
If you are left-handed, start with the springs closest to Hole 9 on the Left
Mechanism and then start with Hole 1 on the Right Mechanism.
Adjusting the tension will be covered later once the mattress is in place.
There are
9 Spring
locations.
Referring to
the spring
application
chart and
Fig. 2A, insert springs into the hole
numbers noted for the amount of
springs you will be using. Hook one
end of spring onto the stationary
portion of the mechanism with
open side of hook facing down
as shown in
blue
, then rotate
the spring 180 degrees into the
corresponding hole on the movable
portion of the mechanism as shown
in
red
. Once the spring is attached, the open side of the hook will face up towards you.
You may have to bend the middle of the spring upward to get it in place and pry up on
the movable portion of the mechanism. Some mechanisms already have some pre-
inserted springs. If yours does, you can leave these in place and add springs to achieve
the correct amount.
