Warning
Do not operate the EM Field Generator within 200 mm of an installed active implant or
body-worn medical device (e.g., pacemaker, ICD, neurostimulator, cochlear implant). The
magnetic field produced by the EM Field Generator may interfere with the operation of
these active implants.
How to Set Up the EM Tracking Unit
Step
1.
Use the transport case to move the
EM Tracking Unit
components into the OR.
2.
Unpack each component from the transport case in the order that it is stored inside the
case.
3.
Attach the
EM Field Generator Positioning Arm
to the OR table so that the
EM Field
Generator
faces the patients head.
• Pull the locking lever forward and mount the
EM Field Generator
onto the
Position-
ing Arm
.
• Push the locking lever inwards to lock.
• Lay the cable on the floor in a way that the movement of OR staff is not limited.
4.
Remove the unsterile instrument case from the transport case, placing it on an unsterile
surface.
5.
Remove the top layer of the transport case, placing it where it will remain clean and dry.
6.
Remove the
EM Base Station
from the bottom layer of the transport case.
7.
Connect the
EM Power Data
cable to the
EM Base Station
.
8.
Connect the
EM Field Generator
cable to the
EM Base Station
.
9.
Hang the
EM Base Station
on the OR table rail using the mounting suspension.
10.
Fix the
EM Power Supply
to
Monitor Cart
by securing it with the hook and loop straps
around the
Monitor Cart
post, close to the base.
11.
Connect the EM cable to
Monitor Cart
.
12.
Connect the EM cable to the
EM
power supply.
13.
Connect the EM cable to the
Monitor Cart
.
14.
Replace top layer of transport case and store the case out of the way, where it will remain
clean and dry.
Hold the
EM Base Station
with one hand while connecting or disconnecting EM Instruments with
the other. This way no unintended movement of the
EM Base Station
on the OR table rail can
occur.
Check the
Field Generator Mounting Suspension
for visible damage before use and do not use
a damaged equipment.
When using the mounting arm to mount the
EM Field Generator
, ensure that it is mounted
correctly. The mounting arm segment between the adjustment handle and the plastic segment is
ferromagnetic and can adversely affect the system. The
EM Field Generator
must be mounted so
that there is a minimum of 20 cm between the
EM Field Generator
and this segment. Mounting
the
EM Field Generator
too close to the ferromagnetic mounting arm segment can increase the
possibility of inaccurate transformations and possible personal injury.
Do not bend or kink device cables or tool cables, or use cables that are damaged. Applying
transformations from a system with damaged tool cables may result in possible personal injury.
Ensure that there is sufficient slack when connecting cables. Do not strain or place the attached
cables under tension.
Once the
EM Tracking Unit
is set up, if necessary, move the OR table carefully as it might pull on
cables an move components.
