Starting and stopping
Starting the engine
Follow the instructions in the separate engine specific manual. The machine is designed to exhibit its performance
when fitted with a suitable engine. The engine of the machine has the following specification.
Inspect at engine start‐up
1.
Confirm that the starter lever is in the "OFF" position.
2.
Start the engine, and confirm that the engine is running normally. For engine operation, refer to the specific
engine manual.
3.
Use the starter lever to rotate the machine, and confirm or not any strange sound or vibration.
4.
If any strange sound is detected, refer to the table of faults and indications.

Wrapping
The loading and unloading operation should be performed without physical overexertion. Center the bale on the
turning belt. To prepare a good quality wrapping, do not wrap the bale with very wet grass due to rain or thick fog,
or flooded or very wet soils. Wrap the grass with adequate water content by proper drying as soon as it is baled.
For proper packaging
1.
Adjust the water content in grass from 50% to 60%. If the water content is too high or too low, lactic acid
fermentation is not achieved. Especially during the rainy season or heavy fog, do not operate the machine if
the water content is too high.
2.
Preparation of a well‐formed bale. Prepare well‐formed and dense bales.
3.
Wrap immediately after baling. If wrapping is delayed, the elevated temperature inside the bale will increase
bacterial spoilage and thermal denaturation of proteins, reducing digestibility.
4.
Use silage foil with stable quality. A foil with easy change with environmental temperatures can be detrimental
to the quality of the work.
5.
If the foil used is damaged or has holes by mistake, be sure to repair it.
6.
Preservation. Select a well‐drained, covered and protected place for the preservation of the wrapped bale.
Ideally, the bales should be placed vertically on two or three levels in a stable manner so that they do not fall
down.
7.
The unwrapped bales must be consumed within the day to avoid a second fermentation that deteriorates the
product.
