3.8 Coding, concluding work
This system is coding relevant.
To ensure that the retrofit system:
-
is fully functional
- does not suffer malfunctions and faults in conjunction with the other electrical systems in the vehicle, this
system and, if necessary, other vehicle control units must be coded.
In addition it is stored in the central code of the IKE.
This coding is completed automatically using the current coding program in the "Retrofit" path.
The procedure is user-guided and the text instructions for completing the various steps are to be followed.
As from version C15, this retrofit coding is included for this product.
The latest version of the coding program is to be used for the coding process.
Base interface coding
Procedure
- Connect the DIS/MoDiC to the car
- Ignition
"ON"
- Selection
"Coding ZCS"
- Series:
"6 E 39"
- Path:
"2 Retrofit"
- System:
"15 BIT"
- Start automatic coding (confirm with
"Y"
)
- After completing the coding, switch the ignition
"OFF"
when you are told to do so by the menu instructions,
wait for at least 10 seconds and then switch the ignition
"ON"
again
- Print out a coding label and affix it to the inside of the electric box cover.
MID coding
This coding is only necessary if the "MID controller" (

isplay) with a telephone key has been
installed.
Procedure
- Connect the DIS/MoDiC to the car
- Ignition
"ON"
- Selection
"Coding ZCS"
- Series:
"6 E 39"
- Path:
"2 Retrofit"

"9 Telephone with MID"
- Start automatic coding (confirm with
"Y"
)
- After completing the coding, switch the ignition
"OFF"
when you are told to do so by the menu instructions,
wait for at least 10 seconds and then switch the ignition
"ON"
again
- Print out a coding label and affix it to the side member in the boot near the battery next to the existing coding
label.
Print out the error memory.
Conduct a function test.
Re-assemble the car by installing the components you removed in reverse order.
