Comply with the operating in-
structions of the charger.
Once the battery is fully
charged, disconnect the
charger's terminal clips from
the battery terminals.
NOTICE
The battery has to be recharged
at regular intervals in the course
of a lengthy period of disuse.
See the instructions for caring
for your battery. Always fully re-
charge the battery before restor-
ing it to use.
Removing battery
Removing front seat ( 99).
with anti-theft alarm (DWA)

If applicable, switch off the anti-
theft alarm.
Switch off the ignition.
ATTENTION
Battery not disconnected in
accordance with correct pro-
cedure
Risk of short-circuit
Always proceed in compliance
with the specified disconnec-
tion sequence.
Remove the battery earth
lead

Pull off the protective cap 2
and remove the positive battery
cable
3 .
Remove the screws 4 and re-
move the retaining bracket.
Lever out the battery towards
the top; tilt the battery in the
event of stiff movement.
Installing battery
Place the battery in the battery
compartment, positive terminal
on the right in the forward dir-
ection of travel.
Position the retaining bracket,
install the screws
4 .
