AF – Alternative frequency
The range of FM stations is limited. For this
reason, FM programmes are distributed to
different frequencies. The AF RDS service
sends these frequencies to the tuner. If the
reception deteriorates because the vehicle
leaves the reception area of a frequency,
the tuner can automatically change to the
best receivable frequency.
Bessel, Butterworth, Chebychev
Filter types named after their inventors that
determine the characteristics of a fi lter in
the transition range between blocked and
forwarded frequencies.
Bluetooth
Bluetooth is a wireless communication
technology that allows connecting different
devices and exchanging data.
Browser, Browse mode
A special display that allows you to navigate
through the folder structure of a data car-
rier and to select fi les (e.g. music tracks,
playlists, wallpapers).
DDA
By using two radio receivers (TwinCeiver)
each with a separate antenna, the recep-
tion quality is optimised in DDA radio
mode. The TwinCeiver continuously analy-
ses the digitised signals of both antennas
and combines them to one strong, clean
signal that is free form reception interfer-
ences. Hence, the DDA method (Digital
Directional Antenna) corresponds to that
of an extremely fast, automatically tracked
directional aerial.
DNC
DNC (Dynamic Noise Covering) measures
disturbing noises (e.g. driving and wind
noises and refl ections) in operation and au-
tomatically adjusts volume, equalizer and
music dynamics.
DSA
DSA (Digital Sound Adjustment) allows au-
tomatic calibration of the equalizer and in-
dependently ensures an acoustic contour
that is harmonic, rich in detail and differen-
tiated, and that can also be manually adjust-
ed to personal preferences.
EON – Enhanced Other Network
In case of a traffi c announcement, the de-
vice switches over from a non-traffi c infor-
mation station to a traffi c information sta-
tion of the same station chain. After the
traffi c announcement, the system switches
back to the previously heard programme.
Quality factor Q
It determines the fi lter quality of the equal-
izer, i.e. the edge steepness and fi lter band-
width, dependent upon the characteristic
frequency.
ID3 tags
ID3 tags contain additional information for
MP3 fi les (e.g. artist, title, album, genre,
year).
MP3, WMA
MP3 and WMA are audio data formats that
allow for high compression with little loss in
quality.

lists, you determine the order in which cer-
