Fault
Possible Cause
Remedy
Excessive vibration
Imbalance due to worn or
broken grinding tools.
Screws worked loose
on the grinding disc.
Replace all worn or broken
parts.
Tighten the counter-sunk
head screws on the
grinding disc.
Unusual noises
Defective motor bearing.
Debris deposit on the coupling.
Change the motor.
Clean the coupling.
Reduced or no
grinding performance
Grinding tools have reached the
maximum permissible wear.
Inappropriate grinding tool for
the application.
Replace the worn parts.
Replace the grinding tools
with appropriate grinding
tools for the surface to be
treated.
9.1 FAULT DIAGNOSIS – GRINDING MACHINE
Prior to any repair work on the machine or its drives, the
machine must be secured against unintentional activation. Put
the machine in its Safety off position. See section 2.6.
