07 Maintenance
The electrolysed water in the device will neutralise after about 3-5 days.
When the device is not in use for a long period of time (weeks), tip out the
water and allow the device to dry. Place in a dry space out of direct sunlight.
Don't store in a fridge as it may degrade the device’s performance and
cause it to stop working.
Wipe the exterior of the device with a dry cloth. Don't use any chemicals
and general cleaning detergents. Be careful not to get water into the
electrical terminals on the base or on the electrical contacts on the
underside of the sprayer bottle. Do not use excessive force on the terminals
or contacts. If there is moisture, remove it completely and let everything
dry out.
This device has a reverse electrolysed electrode cleaning system, so
generally it only needs a scale clean every 6-12 months unless white scale
can be seen on the electrodes.
If water is left in the device for a long period of time, scale will build up on
the electrodes and the device will not work properly. It is recommended to
remove the water if the device isn't going to be used for a week or two.
Periodically check to see if there is any scale build up either on the
electrodes or on the inside of the bottle or jug.
To clean, mix together 200ml of warm tap water and 1.0g of citric acid (stir
until dissolved). Add solution to the bottle/jug and leave for 2 hours. Pour
out and discard the solution. Rand rinse thoroughly with clean tap water,
rinse at least twice.
The white scale material is a mineral build up of calcium and magnesium
from the tap water.
