Hold the rear support frame and use your foot to press the release lever, then lower the rail 

to the ground.

Hold onto the rail about 4 inches behind the plastic cover and lift until you hear a "click". 

Press down on the rail to make sure the machine is locked. If the machine stays locked then 

the machine is in the exercise position.
