Probe Reading
Solution
LO (00)
No reading us ually m eans the wires aren’t properly connected. Check all the
wire connections , and the wire its elf for dam age. If everything’s hooked up
correctly, the problem could be delam ination; to check for this detach wires
from probe, attach both voltm eter wires (us e ohm s etting) to one probe pos t,
with one wire on the s ens or s ide, one wire on the s crew/wire attachm ent
s ide to verify continuity. Repeat for the s econd pos t. Scrap probe if there's no
continuity, and verify probe location m eets guidelines before ins talling a new
one
Too low, overdos ing
Check tank for extrem e s cale build up. If there’s a lot of s cale, clean the
probe.
Too high, not dos ing
enough
Replace the probe. This failure s hould only be s een on pre-Y2K tem perature
com pens ated probes . Newer tem p com p probes are m edical grade and
s houldn’t fail in this m anner.

This failure us ually indicates a s hort. Check the wires to ens ure there’s no
s hort, and check the back of the probe for m ois ture. Som etim es if the probe
is wet in back, replacing it and allowing it to dry will allow it to function again.
In rare cas es m ois ture m ay work into the body of the probe; when this occurs
the probe can’t be dried out and ins tead m us t be s crapped.
