operAtion - before use for the first time
Flush the appliance two or three times by operating it with water – without coffee – when first using the
appliance or using it again after a longer period of time. When flushing the appliance observe the following
instructions for use. Dispose of the water after use.
operAtion - filling the water reservoir
The appliance builds up pressure for the preparation of espresso. Do not remove the cap (2) from the
water reservoir while the reservoir is still under pressure.
1. Place the appliance in the appropriate position and ensure that the switch is set to ‘OFF’ (4).
2. Pour the required amount of water in the reservoir (1). Use the glass jug (8), since this shows the
necessary quantities.

• Fill to mark 4: sufficient for 4 cups of espresso.
• Fill to mark : sufficient for 2 cups of espresso and steam to froth the milk.
• Fill to mark 2: sufficient for 2 cups of espresso.
3. When filled to mark 4 the glass jug contains 240 ml water. This is the maximum quantity of water that
may be poured into the reservoir.

Taking out the espresso filter
1. Turn the handle (6) to the left. The filter holder will unlock on reaching the mark on the housing.
Remove the espresso filter holder (5) from the appliance.
