Outlet jacks of different voltage: The 

Berkey MP Solar

 charger can charge a wide range of applications, such as mobile 

phones, disc (cassette) players, digital cameras, PDA’s, radios, shavers, etc. 

 

Built-in battery cabin allows for the charging of the six internal NMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) rechargeable batteries.  This 

provides a convenient source of auxiliary backup power for various applications when sunlight is not available. 

 

INSTRUCTIONS: 

 

Unfold the solar charger and place it in a sunny location facing directly at the sun. The charging process begins when the plug is 
inserted into the solar charger’s outlet jack. The charging indicator light (green) confirms that the unit is charging the application.  

When the connecting wire is disconnected, the solar charger stops charging the application and automatically begins charging its 
internal rechargeable batteries.  No ON/OFF switch is needed. 

 

BATTERY CABIN: 

 

1.

 

Install rechargeable batteries: use a screwdriver to release the cover, and insert the 6 AAA rechargeable batteries into the 

built-in battery cabin and replace the cover. 

2.

 

When disconnected from applications, the solar charger automatically charges its own internal rechargeable batteries.  

Simply leave the solar charger under direct sunlight until the “battery full” (red light) indicator turns on.  Your instant 
backup power source is now ready for use. 

3.

 

The 7.2V outlet jack is designed to take power from the rechargeable batteries.  Simply plug your application into this jack; 
you will then have an instant backup power source. 

 

RECHARGING THE 

BERKEY LIGHT

 LED LAMP BASE:

 

1.

 

Plug connecting wire into the 

Berkey MP Solar

 charger. 

2.

 

Plug the multi-purpose adapter into the connecting wire. 

3.

 

Plug the multi-purpose adapter into the 

Berkey Light

 

base.

  

 

4.

 

The solar output voltage switch can be set on either 6V or 12V. 

5.

 

The 7.2V outlet jack can be used to power the LED lamps utilizing the solar chargers internal rechargeable batteries.  
Simply plug the base into this jack; you will then have an instant backup power source. 

 

CHARGING MOBILE PHONES USING OPTIONAL CIGARETTE LIGHTER SOCKET:  

 

1.

 

Choose the suitable voltage required by your mobile phone. 

2.

 

Plug the connecting wire of the cigarette lighter socket into the 

Berkey MP Solar

 charger. 

3.

 

Plug your mobile phone cigarette lighter adapter into your mobile phone. 

4.

 

Plug phone adapter into the cigarette lighter socket. 

 

OTHER POWER APPLICATIONS: 

 

1.

 

Choose the suitable voltage according to your application.  The solar output voltage can be interchanged between 6V and 
12V by shifting the voltage switch.  6V output is to power those applications wherein the voltage required is equal to or 

below 6V.  The 12V output is to power those applications wherein the voltage required is between 6V and 12V.  Plug 
connecting wire into the 

Berkey MP Solar

 charger.

Plug the multi-purpose adapter into the connecting wire. 

3.

 

Plug the multi-purpose adapter into the application. 

4.
