Problem Possible Causes Suggested Solutions
Engine stalls or labours when raking Flails set too low to ground . Raise flails such that they just skim
the ground when level
Abnormal or excessive vibration Damaged or missing flails
STOP WORK IMMEDIATELY
Loose handle bolts Replace any damaged or missing flails and
Loose engine bolts tighten all bolts and nuts
Engine will not start Stop switch is off . Check that all switches are on
Throttle in off position . Verify that throttle and choke position are
Engine not in full choke position . in proper setting .
Out of gasoline . Fill gas tank up .
Bad or old gasoline . Empty and dispose of bad/old gasoline as
per local bylaws . Refill with new gasoline
Spark plug wire is disconnected or Reconnect spark plug wire
improperly connected .
Engine oil level too low (Oil Alert) Refill engine oil .
Dirty air cleaner . Clean or replace air filter .
Engine is locked and Debris locked up against rotor assembly and Disconnect spark plug wire and remove
will not pull over /or drive pulleys . debris prior to restarting machine .
Engine problem . Refer to engine owner’s manual for
instructions on any engine problems .
