INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
4.1
KA 310 Location and Mounting
The KA 310 does not require forced cooling. The unit must be mounted to a metal surface per the
drawing listed in the STC Approved Model List (P/N 89800004-098) to allow proper heat dissipation and
electrical bonding of the unit.
4.1.1
KA 310 Installation with KAP 100/KAP 150/KAP 200/KFC 150/KFC 200/KFC 225
When installing the KA310 with the KI 300 to provide intended functions of KI 255/KI 256/KG 258 and
KRG 331/332 (if installed) in the KAP 100/KAP 150/KAP 200/KFC 150/KFC 200/KFC 225 Flight Control
System complete the following steps.
Note: The KI 300/KA 310 is not a replacement for the KG 257 Yaw Rate Gyro.
1.
Verify the KI 300 electronic attitude indicator (PN 89000004-100-00) is installed in the aircraft.
2.
If the autopilot includes a yaw rate gyro, remove the legacy yaw rate gyro KRG 331/332 and
associated cable.
3.
Wire the connections between the KA 310 and the KI 300, refer to APPENDIX B.
4.
Remove existing wiring connected to the autopilot on the pins that are to be interfaced to the
KA 310.
5.
Wire the connections between the KA 310 and the autopilot, refer to APPENDIX B.
6.
Wire the KA 310 to the aircraft avionics power bus through the circuit breaker. Refer to Section
3.3.2 and APPENDIX B for correct circuit breaker sizing and labeling.
7.
Install the ground wire. Refer to APPENDIX B.
8.
Optional:
If the aircraft is equipped with a radar altimeter, wire the radar altimeter discrete to
the KA 310, refer to APPENDIX B.
9.
Complete wiring and power checks. Refer to Section 4.4.
10.
Connect the DB-9 connector to the KA 310. Verify the connector is secure.
11.
Connect the DB-44 connector to the KA 310. Verify the connector is secure.
12.
Configure and test the KA 310 installation in accordance with Section 6.
13.
Complete the post installation system checkout and flight checks. Refer to Section 7.1, Section
Error! Reference source not found.
, Section 7.2 and Section 7.4.
4.2
Weight and Balance
An update to the weight and balance computation is required after the installation of the KA 310. Follow
the guidelines in AC43.13-1B, Chapter 10, Section 2. Make the appropriate entries in the equipment list
