4.4.1 Filtration
With the CLEARPOINT
®

coalescing filter, the medium flows through the filter element from the inside to the
outside. Compressed gas flows into the filter element from where it flows through the filter element into the filter vessel.
During this process, particles as well as oil and water aerosols are separated by the filter material. The liquid components
in the filter material move downwards due to gravity, drip off and collect at the base of the filter vessel. From there, they
are drained off automatically or manually. Over time, particles become deposited in the filter material. This results in an
increase in flow resistance (differential pressure) of the filter element.
The particle charge or degree of pollution of the filter element can be read off using a differential pressure gauge. More
detailed information about this can be found in the installation and operation manual enclosed with the differential
pressure gauge.
