Capacity Measurement
5.2 Capacity Measurement
Prior to any capacitor test, it
must be ensured, that the capa-
citor to be tested is completely
discharged. Failure to comply
with this prescription can lead
to dangerous corporal user inju-
ries or cause instrument dama-
ge. Additio-nally, charged capa-
citors falsify the measurement
result.
Charged capacitors have to be
discharged using a high-ohm
resistance (not via short-
circuit !).
When dealing with polarised
capacitors, connect ”-” pole to
the multimeter COM socket.
Resistors and semiconductor
paths in parallel to the capacitor
cause falsified measurement
results.
Select measurement range
via
measurement function selection
switch.
Connect the black test lead to the
COM
socket and the red test lead
to the
Temp
/
/
/
socket.
The capacity test is pre-set. If the
diode symbol appears on the dis-
play the key
is used to
switch to capacity test.
