Safety instructions
This section provides an overview of all the main safety aspects involved in en-
suring optimal personnel protection and safe and smooth operation.
Non-compliance with the action guidelines and safety instructions contained in
this manual may result in serious hazards.
2.1 Intended use
The instrument is designed and constructed exclusively for the intended use as
described here.
The polishing motor is used exclusively for polishing plastic or metal parts of
optical frames using supplied polishing tips and suitable polishing media and
polishing pastes.
Compliance with all instructions given in these operating instructions forms part
of the intended use.
Any use deviating or varying from the intended use is considered incorrect use.

Danger resulting from incorrect use!
Incorrect use of the polishing motor may result in hazar-
dous situations.

Do not use the instrument to polish materials other
than those indicated for intended use.
•
Do not set up the instrument near optical measuring
instruments.
•
Do not use the instrument with polishing bodies and
pastes other than those supplied by the manufacturer.
•
Contact the manufacturer in case of doubt.
Any claims due to damage arising from incorrect use are excluded.
2.2 Responsibility of the healthcare establishment
The instrument is used in the commercial sector. The healthcare establishment
where the device is to be used is therefore subject to any legal obligations inclu-
ding occupational health and safety (e.g., the regulations for accident prevention
valid in Germany).
The healthcare establishment is also obliged remain
informed of all relevant, local laws valid at the time the
device is being used and any standards and guidelines
associated with these laws and to adhere to these.

The healthcare establishment must ensure that a damaged or non-functional
instrument is never used.
•
The healthcare establishment must be informed of all valid occupational
health and safety regulations and implement these in the form of an instruc-
tion manual for the operation of the instrument.

The healthcare establishment must verify that this instruction manual con-
forms to the current regulations for the entire time the instrument is in use
and must update the manual if necessary.
•
The healthcare establishment must clearly regulate and specify the responsi-
bilities for setup, operation, resolution of faults and cleaning.
•
The healthcare establishment must ensure that all employees who use the
