CONTROLS
OPTIONAL SLIDING TONGUE
The optional sliding tongue is used when the chipper’s tongue is not long enough to hook to the machine
to a tow vehicle and have proper clearance when turning or backing up the machine.
DANGER
!
Before attempting any type of maintenance, disengage clutch, wait for the disc/drum to come to a complete
stop, turn off engine, remove the ignition key, make sure the ignition key is in your possession, install the
disc/drum lock pin, and disconnect the battery.
1. Follow all pre-maintenance shut down procedures.
2. Remove the two 5/8” bolts and hardware from the side of the sliding tongue.
3. Pull the sliding tongue out approximately 20” until the next set of holes in the sliding tongue are aligned
with the stationary tongue tube.
4. Reinstall the two 5/8” bolts and hardware. Two bolts must be used to pin the sliding tongue.
5. Tighten both sliding tongue bolts and automated lock nuts until they are snugged up to the tongue
bushings, but still able to spin inside the bushings. If the bolts will not fi t through the holes, an 11/16” or
21/32” drill bit can be used to remove debris from the hole.
6. Follow all transportation procedures to hook the machine to a tow vehicle and transporting it.
NOTICE
If the sliding tongue does not need to be extended for the towing vehicle, depending on hitch type and
placement, reverse the procedure above and retract the tongue back to the non extended tongue length.
Remove and
reinstall these
bolts
