STARTING UP AND REGULATION
Before starting up, make sure that:
•
Check that the nozzles fitted on the burner are suitable for the
boiler capacity. If necessary, replace them with suitable ones. In
no case should the quantity of fuel delivered exceed the maximum
amount required by the boiler and the maximum amount allowed
for the burner.
•
Make sure that the mains voltage corresponds to the manufacturer's
requirements and that all electrical connections made at the
installation site are effected properly as illustrated in our wiring
diagram.
•
Make sure that the combustion products may be freely vented
through the boiler and flue dampers.
•
Check that there is water in the boiler and that the gate valves of
the system are open.
•
Make sure that there is fuel in the tank.
•
Check that all the gate valves fitted on the fuel suction and return
pipes are open; the same applies to any other fuel shut-off devices.
•
Loosen the screw that stops the combustion air adjustment system.
•
Act on the manual air regulation system to increase the air flow
required for the operation of the burner and lock it by tightening the
relevant screw.
•
Regulate the air quantity to ensure a good combustion.
•
Check combustion with special instruments.
•
If the appropriate instruments are not available, judgement can be
based on the colour of the flame.
•
Regulate to obtain a light orange flame avoiding a red flame with
smoke, or a white flame with air excess.
•
Air regulation should be performed to allow a certain amount of
carbon dioxide (CO2) in the fumes, which may vary from a min.
of 10% to a max. of 13% with a fume index not exceeding 6 of the
Bacharach scale.
•
Remember that to achieve a proper adjustment the system water
temperature must be at the normal working temperature and that
the burner must have been working for at least 15 minutes.
•
Now the heating elements that heat up the fuel oil turn on and, at
the same time, the relevant yellow light on the burner turns on.
•
The pre-heater's minimum thermostat closes when the oil
temperature reaches the value to which it is set.
• The closure of the minimum thermostat, if the other thermostats
(ambient and boiler) are closed, determines the activation of the
appliance, which will turn on the devices making up the boiler in
accordance with the established programme.
•
The burner turns on as described in the chapter "Operation
description”.
•
During testing, check that the values do not imply bad combustion,
smoke, gas in the pre-heater, etc.
•
If necessary, change the thermostat values, keeping in mind
that the regulation thermostat must be set to a temperature 15°
C higher than the value to which the minimum thermostat is set.
The minimum thermostat must close at the minimum temperature
indispensable for the fuel to arrive at the nozzle with a viscosity rate
not exceeding 2° E.
