Startup
DANGER
Uncontrolled system movement
When starting up, if the inductive positioning system is
part of a closed loop system whose parameters have not
yet been set, the system may perform uncontrolled
movements. This could result in personal injury and
equipment damage.
Ź
Persons must keep away from the system’s hazar-
dous zones.
Ź
Startup must be performed only by trained technical
personnel.
Ź
Observe the safety instructions of the equipment or
system manufacturer.
1.
Check connections for tightness and correct polarity.
Replace damaged connections.
2.
System einschalten.
3.
Check measured values and adjustable parameters
and readjust the inductive positioning system, if
necessary.
Check for the correct values at the null point
and end point, especially after replacing the
position measuring system or after repair by the
manufacturer.
Operating notes
– Regularly check function of the inductive positioning
system and all associated components.
– Take the inductive positioning system out of operation
whenever there is a malfunction.
– Secure the system against unauthorized use.
Installation
NOTICE
Improper installation
Improper installation can compromise the function of the
magnetic ring and result in damage.
Ź
For this reason, ensure that no strong electrical or
magnetic fields are present in the immediate vicinity
of the BIP.
Installation instructions
– Any orientation is permitted.
– Observe tightening torques (see Dimensions and
Function).
– In order to prevent effects on the measurement signal
by the installation material, a metal-free area around
the active surface of the BIP of approximately 20 mm
must be maintained (see installation dimensions). If the
BIP detects not only the magnet, but also another
metal piece, invalid measurement signals will result.
– To obtain a measurement signal with high resolution,
suitable cable routing in the machine and filter
measures for system power supply must be ensured.
– Recommended distribution of the mounting clamps as
a function of the respective BIP length (see Dimensions
and Function).
Fastenings (mounting clamps, brackets, clam-
ping frames, mounting brackets) are available
as accessories at

Cut-outs
Cut-outs must be provided to ensure visibility of the LED
display and access to the connectors (see Fig).
