Dynamic Teach (Balluff spec.)
This teach process is only available in Two-Point and
Window Mode. As with the previous process, the measu-
rement values are dynamically recorded over a defined
period of time. Measurement value acquisition is started
via the Dynamic Teach SP1 Start system command, but
ended here with Dynamic Teach SP2 Stop. If all recorded
measurement values were in the valid detection range, the
switching point calculation is started. The minimum and
maximum values are determined for this purpose. Unlike
the previous process, the maximum value is used as
switching point 1 (SP 1) and the minimum value as swit-
ching point 2 (SP2). The maximum acquisition time is again
5 minutes, then the teaching process is aborted.

External Teach-in
In addition to the IO-Link-controlled teach processes, there
is the possibility of external teach-in. Only Setpoint 1 (SP1)
can be taught here. The teach process is started with the
falling edge of the first pulse on Pin 2 or Pin 5. The now
active teach process is indicated by the red LED lighting
up. The maximum interval between the first and second
pulse for Two-Value-Teach and Dynamic-Teach is 5min.
If the LED switches off, the teach process has been ended
successfully.
If the LED flashes for 3 seconds, the teach process was
not ended successfully. In this case, the previous configu-
ration continues to be used. The following error causes are
possible:
– The current measurement value is outside of the
validity range.
– The sensor cannot be parameterized locally. The
reasons for this are currently active ISDU communica-
tion, an active block parameterization or set access
locks.
It is recommended that the external teach-in is
only used with inactive IO-Link communication (in
SIO mode).

Dynamic Teach (Smart Sensor Profile Spec.)
With this process, no static teach points are recorded,
unlike with the previous methods; rather, multiple measure-
ment values are recorded over a defined period of time.
Measurement value acquisition is started with the Dynamic
Teach SP1 Start system command and ended with Dyna-
mic Teach SP1 Stop. If all recorded measurement values
were in the valid detection range, the switching point
calculation is started. For this purpose, the minimum and
maximum values are determined. The average value of
these two extrema is used to form the new switching point
(setpoint). The maximum acquisition time is 5 minutes,
then the teaching process is aborted.
