Depth Stop Adjustment
The depth stop is an adjustable stop bolt which
presses on a limit switch to stop the downward travel
of the punching beam. This stop then creates a
repeatable travel point for the punching beam which
in turn creates a repeatable bend for the same
material and thickness within the same die opening.
The Adjustment knob has both a coarse and a fine
adjustment. The coarse adjustment is used to match
the punch travel with the V-groove used. The fine
adjustment is then used to adjust the stop point to
produce and repeat the desired bend angle.
The adjustment is a test and adjust method.
1. Select and rotate the die so that needed V-groove
is up and aligned with the punch.
2. With a sample / setup piece of material of the
exact same type and thickness, make a test bend
to the desired angle.
3. Stop the punch at the bottom of the bending stroke and make the coarse adjustment to the
stop bolt. Loosen the clamping knob (back side of block from this angle) and raise or lower
the stop bolt assembly as needed until it just triggers the down travel limit switch.
4. Raise the punch and reposition the setup material to allow for a second bend.
5. Make a second bend allowing the stop bolt to stop the down travel. (Stop the travel if it
becomes obvious that the travel is too far.)
6. Now make any fine adjustments by turning the stop bolt knob to allow for more or less travel
as needed to obtain the desired bend angle.
7. When the travel stops and the angle is correct the adjustment is complete.
