1) Unlock the air cleaner cover and remove to access the air
cleaner.
2) Remove the paper element and precleaner.
3) Replace or wash precleaner in warm water
with detergent. Rinse and allow to air dry.
4) Lightly oil precleaner with new engine oil;
squeeze out excess oil.
5) Replace paper element and place precleaner
onto new paper element.
6) Install onto base and place cover back on and
lock into place.
3.4 Changing the spark plugs and checking the spark
plug gap:
3.3 Changing the air cleaner
1)
In order to access the spark plugs you will
need to remove the rear engine cover. This
can be accomplished by removing the two
carriage bolts using a 7/16” ratcheting
wrench in the back as well as the two
connecting the rear engine cover to the
plastic shrouds. Then loosen the two carriage
bolts on the side and the rear engine cover
will swing down for easy access to the spark
plugs.
2)
Remove the wire on the spark plug and use a
5/8” socket to remove the spark plug.
3)
Check the gap on the spark plug to verify that
it is 0.03 in using a feeler gauge.
4)
If the spark plug is worn, overheated, wet or
carbon fouled replace the spark plug.
5)
Install the plug into Cylinder head and torque
to 20 ft*lbs. Be careful not to overtighten the
spark plug.
