Setting up and using the OSO W-D

OSO W-D mounting

Upon arrival and unpacking, the OSO W-D requires a little bit of assembly before it can be used.

The 2 seperate antennas which are included, can be mounted on the corresponding connector. Twist the
connector clockwise in place until you feel it has been tightened.

The antenna of the OSO W-D can be angled, which can be easier for use in some settings. Please note that
the antennas should point at the same direction (either up or down) for the best signal transfer.

Powering the unit

Connect the power adapter (both are identical) to either the transmitter or receiver and plug the adapter into
a suitable wall outlet. Once power is detected, the units will start up.

The units will both blink when powered up to determine their status.

Common status:

Transmitter status:
- red blinking: sending wireless DMX signal
- red full on: No DMX signal

Receiver status:
- green blinking: receiving wireless DMX signal
- green full on: no wireless signal

The transmitter can be plugged directly into a lighting console or DMX computer interface. The receiver can
be plugged into one of your DMX lighting fixtures. It’s also possible to connect the transmitter somewhere
else in the signal chain, in case you wish to transfer the signal further from a lighting fixture near your setup.

It may be practical to use a standard XLR cable between the wireless DMX transmitter/receiver and the
console or lights to be able to position the devices better. This has no influence on the operation of the
devices.

To ensure a connection between the transmitter and receiver, make sure both devices are set to the same
ID. You can do this by pressing the red button on the unit. When pressing, the unit will go to the next ID and
show the corresponding colour. There are 7 ID’s, each coloured differently by an RGB LED. Once the
desired ID shows up, the device will go back to showing the current status.

Once a connection has been established, the transmitter will blink red, the receiver will blink green. DMX
data can now be transferred from the lighting console to the DMX lighting fixtures.

Stability and reliability when in use

Please note that the OSO W-D works on the global free to use 2.4 GHz band. The system makes use of the
7 ID’s to ensure that up to 7 systems can work together.

However, please be aware that the 2.4 GHz band is also used by lots of other equipment, such as:
- laptops
- smartphones
- Bluetooth enabled devices
- WiFi enabled devices (also routers)
- tablet computers
- microwaves

To prevent signal loss, the OSO W-D continuously seeks for stable signals in 126 different channels in the
2.4 GHz band it operates in.
