2.7.
Device redundancy (with MIS 1-11)
Device redundancy offers the possibility to replace a device with another device, e.g. in case of failure.
Two devices of the same type and configuration can serve as
primary
and
backup
devices. If some
configurable conditions apply (input error, output error, operating voltage error, etc.), then the system switches
over to the backup device.
∂
A valid license (MIS 1-11) must be installed for the
backup device
∂
Both devices must be connected via the control ports (ideally in the same IP subnet)
∂
Both devices must have the same password
∂
Both devices must be configured identically
With the backup device, the output modulators are initially deactivated (coax, redundant). When switching to
the backup device, its output modulators become active and provide the output signal. The output modulators
of the primary device are switched off in this case.
The device redundancy is configured for the backup device in the configuration under MAINTENANCE (see 3.8
on page 47).
2.8.
Connecting to a CAS server (with MKS 1-02)
The headend can be connected to a CAS server. The connection can be established via the CAS interface (CAS),
the configuration interface (Control) or the IPTV input (IPTV), see 3.9.1 on page 51.
If the headend station is connected to the CAS server and configured correctly, it can encrypt programs. The
encrypted programmes can be decrypted by connected users with the appropriate CA module/smart card.
Requirements:
∂
Access to an appropriately configured CAS server must be available.
It is not part of the headend, nor is it described in this document.
∂
A valid license must be installed for the device (see 3.7 on page 45).
∂
The headend must be configured accordingly (see
