holders according to the diameter of the log to obtain most comfortable control lever angle.
Hold the log with the clamping brackets so that it stays tightly in place. Lower levers to start
the splitting. Releasing either lever stops the motion of the splitting wedge. Release both
handles to return the splitting wedge to the upper position.
Freeing a jammed log
Depending on the type of wood a log may not always break into two pieces and fall to the
ground. If a log sticks to the wedge, stop the wedge movement by releasing the handles,
shut the engine off and release the log by knocking it gently if needed. Allowing the log to
remain attached to the wedge when it is fully retracted could lead to possible damage to the
log splitter.
WARNING! DO NOT ADJUST THE MAX PRESSURE LIMITING SCREW
Max pressure was set before the log splitter ex work and the max pressure limiting screw is
sealed with glue to ensure the log splitter works under pressure no more than 7 tons. The
setting was done by qualified mechanic with professional instruments. Unauthorized reset-
ting will cause the hydraulic pump fail to output enough splitting pressure or result in seri-
ous injury as well as damage to the machine.
Transport
Shut the engine off before moving, transporting or handling of the log splitter. The log split-
ter is equipped with two wheels for minor moving. Before moving the machine make sure to
tie up the handles together to prevent them from swinging out and accidentally injuring per-
sons or causing damage to the equipment nearby. To move the log splitter to the work site,
grip the handle to tilt the log splitter slightly after making sure the oil tank cover is tight-
ened.
NOTICE! If using a crane, lay a hoist sling around the housing. Never try to lift
the log splitter at the handle.
MAINTENANCE
Replacing hydraulic oil
The hydraulic system is a closed system with oil tank, oil pump and control valve. Check oil
level regularly with the dipstick. Low oil level can damage the oil pump. Oil level should
measure approx. 1–2 cm lower than the upper mark in the oil tank. The oil should be com-
pletely changed once a year.
1.
Make sure all moving parts have stopped and the log splitter is unplugged.
2.
Make sure that no dirt or debris finds its way into the oil tank.
3.
Collect used oil and recycle it responsibly.
4.
Following an oil change, activate the log splitter a few times without actually splitting.
Following hydraulic oils or equivalent are recommend for the log splitter’s hydraulic trans-
mission system: SHELL Tellus 22, MOBIL DTE 11, ARAL Vitam GF 22 and BP Energol
HLP-HM 22.
