Where to charge IONIQ 5
The IONIQ 5 is charged by simply plugging the vehicle into a
power source. There are several different power sources ranging
from your regular household power plug to a variety of faster
charge power sources that can be used to charge IONIQ 5.
The figures below are based on the 72.6 kWh battery model. The
58 kWh battery model will experience shorter charging times.
A) 230/240V Power Socket
– You can charge using a regular
household power socket using the Emergency 3 Pin
Connector (ICCB) as found in the vehilce. However, this
should only be used as an emergency option and is the most
time consuming method of charging. Recharging time is
approximately 31 hours and uses the Type 2 connection.
B) 7.4 kW AC ‘Fast Charger’ station
– These are often located
in areas such as shopping malls or at private residential
properties. Depending on the station, there may be a
requirement to use a supplied Type 2 cable. Recharging time
is around 11 hours and uses the Type 2 connection.
C) Public 50 kW DC ‘Rapid Charger’ station
– These are also
located in public spaces and are usually always ‘pay for
use’. Charging time from empty to 80% takes around 1 hour.
These charging stations use a cable which is tethered to the
charging station and use the Type 2 CCS connection.
D) Public 300 kW DC ‘Hyper Charger’ station
– The fastest
way to charge your IONIQ 5. These are limited to a few
locations in New Zealand but will roll out across the country
in due course. Charging time for these can be as low as
25 minutes to 80% but will depend on ambient conditions.
These charging stations use a cable which is tethered to the
charging station and use the Type 2 CCS connection.
If you have any further questions then you can either refer to the owners
handbook found in the glovebox or contact AVIS on 0800 655 111
TIP:
To find a public charging station we recommend downloading the ‘Plugshare’ app for your phone. This application can direct you to the nearest
public charging station. Make sure you set your filter to ‘Type 2 & Type 2 CCS Combo’ plug types.
