3.6 Using the S-TEC 55X Autopilot with the EXP5000
If your aircraft is equipped with an S-TEC 55X Autopilot, the EXP5000
provides the following:

Flight Director steering command bars
●
Autopilot Bugs that are functional and can control the autopilot
●
Autopilot annunciations
This section describes EXP5000-specific autopilot features. For
detailed information on using your autopilot, see your autopilot
documentation.
S-Tec 55X Autopilot Annunciations
Autopilot annunciations display left to right across the top of the
EXP5000. The color of the annunciated text indicates the mode or
state as follows:

Green
- Active (armed)
●
Amber
- Failed
S-Tec 55X Autopilot Bugs
The color of Heading, Altitude, or VSI Bugs indicate when the bug is
coupled with the autopilot.

A
solid magenta
Heading, Altitude, or VSI Bug indicates that the
bug is coupled to the autopilot in an active mode.
●
A
hollow magenta
Heading, Altitude, or VSI Bug indicates that
the bug is not coupled to the autopilot in an active mode.

AP (Autopilot) and FD (Flight Director) Modes
The FD (Flight Director) displays the flight profile commanded by the
autopilot. In FD-equipped aircraft, the FD steering command bars
indicate how to fly the aircraft to achieve the path commanded by the
autopilot. The presence and color of the FD steering command bars
and autopilot annunciations reflect the AP and FD mode:
