The switch administrator performs password reset using the command interface (CI)
command, RESETPWD. If a user forgets the password, the RESETPWD command resets the
password for all directories.
When you perform Password Reset on a terminal with password protection enabled, the user
must enter the new password to gain access to a list.
After performing password reset on a terminal with password protection disabled, the user
enters the new password the next time password protection is enabled. Use the RESETPWD
command to assign the new password.
With Avaya 3900 Series Digital Deskphone Release 3, the administrator can disable the
password functionality using the Password Clear enhancement by entering "00000000" (that
is, eight zeros), instead of a new password. The user then will not be required to enter a
password.
Desktop directory number download
The Avaya Digital Deskphones display the DN associated with a DN key or the feature
assigned to a feature key on a display area next to each of their keys. This display area
eliminates the need for paper labels. The directory download occurs when you provision new
DNs on the set or add new features.
Limitations and restrictions
DN download and feature key labeling only apply to Avaya Digital Deskphones equipped with a
display. The Avaya 3902, 3903, 3904, 3905 Digital Deskphone, and the DBA use this function.
The Avaya 3901 set does not use this function.
The Avaya 3902 set has a 2 x 24 character display. The keys for DN features have enough
space for seven characters for both DN and features.
The Avaya 3903 set has a 3 x 24 character display. The keys for feature keys are limited to 10
characters.
The Avaya 3904 set has a 5 x 24 character display. The keys for features are limited to 10
characters.
The Avaya 3905 set has a 4 x 24 display. The keys for features are limited to 10 characters.
The Avaya 3904 and 3905 sets support a maximum of two KBAs or one DBA. A set that has
at least one KBA cannot have a DBA and vice versa.
