Display
The four character DISPLAY shows the caller feed source. As the phone
is turned ON or OFF, the display will change to show the on air feed or the off
air feed, as appropriate. The display can also be made to show the current
status of the combined caller voice signal with regard to its presence in the
caller feed or mix-minus outputs.
Faders
If a fader is all the way down that caller’s voice will not be present in any
of the four main buses (PGM, AUD, MONO1, and MONO2, to which the
phone is assigned. As the fader is moved up the signal will appear more
strongly in all of the main buses to which the phone is assigned.
The fader position will also affect the strength of the caller in the cue
output.
The fader position also affects the strength of each caller in the other
caller’s caller feed. Whether or not the fader positions affect the strength of the
callers in the two general purpose mix-minus buses to which the phone is
assigned depends on the mix-minus status of the phone section for those two
buses.
On and Off Buttons
The ON AND OFF BUTTONS determine if the phone is ON or OFF. The
lighted buttons show that status.
If the phone is OFF, caller signal will not be present in any main bus output,
regardless of the status of the BUS ASSIGN BUTTONS or the position of the
FADER. If the phone is OFF its signal will still be present in the cue output
if it has been assigned to cue, and also in the other caller’s caller feed. Presence
of the signal in the caller feed or mix-minus buses depends on the phone mix-
minus status.
MONITOR SECTION
The MONITOR SECTION consists of three subsections, the CONTROL
ROOM MONITOR, the STUDIO MONITOR, and the METER SECTION.
Control Room Monitor
In a typical radio application the console is located in the Control Room.
Speakers in the Control Room allow the console operator to listen to the
various console bus outputs to be assured that the console is performing as
desired. These speakers are fed by a stereo signal from the console’s Control
Room output. In addition to the Control Room output, the operator may also
desire to listen to specific isolated faders via the cue system and the console’s
internal cue speaker, or may want to listen via headphones. Thus, the
CONTROL ROOM MONITOR consists of a CR SELECT BUTTON, a CR
DISPLAY, a CR LEVEL CONTROL, a CUE LEVEL CONTROL, and a
HEADPHONE LEVEL CONTROL.
