Power Up Defaults And Last State Pin
Video source #1 is the power up default. Power up default cannot be
configured to any other input.
Upon power-up, the VSS-401-x checks the state of the LAST STATE PIN.
If this pin is grounded, the VSS-401-x retrieves the input that was active
when it was powered down and routes that input to the output. To always
select video source #1 at power up, leave the LAST STATE PIN
unconnected (open).

Internal Status Leds
Eight LEDs, located next to connector P1, provide status indication of
various internal functions and may be useful for configuration and
troubleshooting. Power supply status LEDs indicate in5V and -5V
supply operation. Sequence Sel and Briefer Active LEDs indicate the
status of the SEQUENCE SELECT PIN and BRIEFER ACTIVATE PIN,
respectively. Grounding either of these pins will cause their corresponding
LED to illuminate. The four Status LEDs will illuminate when the
corresponding OUTPUT STATUS / RANDOM SELECT pin is activated
(grounded) or to indicate which input channel is currently selected. Note
these four Status LEDs provide the same status information as the
OUTPUT STATUS / RANDOM SELECT PINs.

Power Up Switch Input Tests
Upon power up, the VSS-401 checks the state of the SEQUENCE
SELECT PIN, all four STATUS OUTPUT / RANDOM SELECT PINs, and
the BRIEFER ACTIVATE PIN. If any of these inputs are grounded at
power up, the VSS-401-x assumes a fault condition. No input selection
can be made until the fault condition is cleared. That is, normal operation
will not begin until the VSS-401-x detects all these inputs are open (NOT
grounded). A fault condition is indicated by the simultaneous blinking of
the Status LEDs (and STATUS OUTPUT / RANDOM SELECT PINs). Tthe
LED associated with the input with the detected fault will remain in the ON
state and will not blink. If this occurs, ensure that all these inputs are open
(NOT grounded). The VSS-401-x will begin normal operation. If normal
operation does not begin even after all inputs are opened, an internal
malfunction may be present.
